Christmas Spirit: 50%
Dec. 23rd, 2009 04:18 pmThis year has been pretty slow in terms of generating holiday cheer. It's been 80 degrees in Florida till about last week, and since I literally just finished my semester on Thursday I barely even have time to appreciate the time off and down time of the holiday. Don't have as many decorations up on the house as last year, but they do look nice.
This morning though was pretty nice; mom's store was part of a donation drive with Children's Miracle Network, and this morning was delivery day. I almost skipped out on it but I decided to go anyway; we didn't like, meet a bunch of sick kids, because it's supposed to be a surprise, but we met with the people at the hospital and the volunteers from CMN, and carried the toys, dvds, and stuff into 'Santa's Workshop,' where they had a ton of toys, clothes, snuggies (lol), books, bakugans, and etc. for the kids. It felt nice being able to help deliver things that the kids will actually be able to use and appreciate, like dvd players, because they have to lay still for long periods of time and the movies can help.
All in all it was a nice experience. If the stores do it again next year and I'm in town I'd probably help deliver again.
